Guide to Country & Language Targeting – Automatically Route Visitors to the Right Page
Country and Language Targeting allows a single short link to send visitors to different destinations based on where they are located and which language they use.
It’s a practical solution for international e-commerce stores, multilingual websites, SaaS platforms, mobile apps, and global advertising campaigns.
Country-Based Targeting
Country targeting detects a visitor’s location using their IP address and automatically redirects them to the appropriate destination.
Example:
- Visitors from the United States → English store
- Visitors from Japan → Japanese store
- Visitors from Germany → German store
- All other countries → Default URL
This is especially useful for regional pricing, country-specific promotions, and localized campaign pages.
Language-Based Targeting
Language targeting uses the visitor’s browser language preferences to determine where the link should send them.
Example:
- English browser → English page
- Japanese browser → Japanese page
- Spanish browser → Spanish page
This approach works particularly well in countries where multiple languages are commonly spoken, such as Canada, Switzerland, and Belgium.
Targeting Priority
When both language and country rules are configured, language targeting takes priority.
Example:
- Country: Germany
- Browser Language: English
→ Redirected to the English page
This ensures visitors are directed based on the language they actually use rather than their physical location alone.
How to Configure It
- Enter your primary destination URL when creating a link.
- Open Advanced Settings and select “Targeting Settings”.
- Add language rules and their destination URLs.
- Add country rules and their destination URLs.
- Save your settings.
Visitors who do not match any configured rule will be redirected to the default URL.
